It's a job! Managers get £28000 plus bonus £2000 per quarter if target gained. Assistant managers get 18000 plus £1000 per quarter if targets gained. Targets get changed to ensure that manager's don't hit targets.

Cutting back on everything constantly Changes in direction on a daily basis. No clear answers to questions. Lots of audits !

The only “good” thing is the small percentage of new equipment and that some gyms are 24 hours.

Management is unfair, cutting hours and expecting a single worker to handle the entire gym. Incredible staff are undervalued, while third-party cleaners and side services pretend to solve problems they don’t. Members are chaotic, shifts are impossible, and yet leadership refuses to hire properly. Think smarter, not cheaper.
