We are always grateful to hear feedback from both current and past employees. It is correct that new Data Collectors start out on an hourly rate of pay (for their first 50 hours worked). Thereafter begins a transition to the training piece rate structure, which pays per data point collected (item scanned or input). This comp structure allows productive employees to earn more money based on their speed, productivity and effort. The “training” piece rate is a subsidized (inflated) rate offered during our rigorous training program which helps provide Data Collectors financial support until they progress to greater data collection speeds. The training program includes 1:1 interaction with the District Manager and/or Lead Data Collector, online training, passing certification tests, and re-audits. Our aim is to verify understanding of the processes & expectation, help expand knowledge of the job, and build collection speed. Upon completion of 260 hours of work (approx. 4-5 months depending on how many hours worked per week) Data Collectors transition out of our training program to the same, non-subsidized, piece rate compensation structure applicable to all tenured peer Data Collectors in the market. On average Data Collectors on the piece rate comp program can earn from $16.00-$19.00 per hour or higher. Actual rates depend on collection types (the more difficult the job, the higher the piece pay per item), the number of hours worked, and the Data Collector’s overall performance. The Data Collector can influence his/her pay by utilizing knowledge, skills, speed, and engagement in the position. Many are motivated and excited by this uncapped earnings opportunity while others may not be. We do ask candidates during the hiring process to assess whether this pay structure is a fit for them. It's important to note that a Data Collector’s pay on piece rate will always be supplemented by Retail Data as necessary to ensure that their pay is meeting the minimum wage requirements in their location.
