Pluspunten

The showrooms are meticulously staged to fool both customers and employees into thinking they're part of something extraordinary. But it’s all a grand illusion, nothing more.

Minpunten

RH is a complete fraud. This company is rotting from the inside out, and they don’t want you to know the truth. The leadership is a disaster — a toxic, fear-driven cabal of egos masquerading as visionaries. The product? Overpriced garbage slapped with a luxury label. If you’re thinking of joining RH, run as fast as you can. A Leadership That’s Completely Broken: RH’s leadership is an unholy mess of power-hungry egos who don’t care about the company, let alone the people working in it. They’re too busy fighting amongst themselves, passing blame, and hiding their incompetence behind fake "visionary" speeches. None of them can lead, and it shows. What’s worse, they don't care about the chaos they've created — they shove all the work down the chain and leave employees drowning in impossible workloads while they do nothing but sit on their thrones and bark orders. "People First" is the Biggest Lie: They want you to believe they care about their employees, but here’s the truth: they don’t. They’ll use you, overwork you, and then toss you aside once you burn out — which, trust me, won’t take long. They don’t care if you're sick, exhausted, or on the verge of collapse. You are nothing more than a cog in their broken machine. "People First"? No. It’s "Image First, People Never." The Product is Cheap Junk: RH markets itself as the pinnacle of luxury, but here’s the ugly truth: the product is garbage. Most of it is mass-produced in China, and the craftsmanship is embarrassing for what they charge. Customers are furious because what they’re buying isn’t the high-end, timeless pieces RH claims to offer — it’s cheap, poorly made furniture that breaks down quickly. The worst part? RH knows it. They’re selling a lie, and every employee is forced to perpetuate it. Endless Blame, No Accountability: At RH, no one at the top is responsible for anything, but you, the employee, will be blamed for everything. Leadership dumps their responsibilities on you, pushes you to exhaustion, and then turns around and accuses you of underperforming when things inevitably fall apart. It’s a never-ending cycle of chaos, and the people who should be fixing it are too busy hiding behind their titles and passing the buck. A Culture of Fear and Control: RH runs on fear. Employees are terrified to speak up because they know they’ll be punished if they step out of line. Honesty is the enemy here, and everyone knows it. If you don’t toe the line, you’ll be pushed out, plain and simple. The daily values meetings are nothing but indoctrination sessions where you’re expected to parrot back their empty rhetoric. It’s cult-like and suffocating. Turnover Like You’ve Never Seen: The turnover at RH is astronomical because no one can survive the toxic environment for long. The company burns through good people like they’re disposable. Why? Because leadership doesn’t care about retaining talent. They’re too busy protecting their egos and hiding the fact that the entire operation is falling apart. The company is hemorrhaging talent, and it’s only getting worse. You Will Burn Out: Expect to work until you drop, and when you do, they’ll find a reason to blame you for it. The workload is inhuman, the expectations are impossible, and there is no support from leadership. You will burn out — it’s not a question of "if," it’s a question of "when." And when that happens, don’t expect any sympathy. You’ll be discarded without a second thought. Advice to Potential Employees: RH is a nightmare disguised as a luxury brand. The leadership is corrupt, the culture is toxic, and the product is trash. You’ll be overworked, underappreciated, and tossed aside when you inevitably break. The shiny exterior is just a cover for the dysfunction, chaos, and fear that runs deep in this company. Do yourself a favor: DON’T JOIN. This place will destroy your mental and physical health, and you’ll be left wondering how you ever fell for the RH facade.

Pluspunten

One of the strongest aspects of this role is the autonomy. I’m trusted to make decisions that genuinely support the customer experience without constant approval from leadership. If I believe an exchange plus a $250 gift card is the right solution to preserve a relationship, I’m empowered to do that. That level of trust creates confidence and allows us to move quickly when issues arise. Leadership is accessible when needed, especially in escalated situations. I’ve never felt left alone to manage something beyond my scope. There is also regular voluntary overtime available, which is a plus for those looking to increase their hours. For someone transitioning from another industry, the environment feels more structured and brand-focused, which has been refreshing

Minpunten

The clientele can be challenging. Some customers assume that spending thousands of dollars entitles them to treat frontline employees disrespectfully, even when those employees had no involvement in the original issue. It can also be frustrating to hold a boundary with a customer, only to see it reversed after escalation. While I understand the desire to preserve relationships, it can unintentionally undermine employee confidence and consistency in standards. Because RH carries so many collections and product variations, the learning curve is steep. Customers often expect immediate, detailed product knowledge, which takes time to develop.
