The culture appeared to be heavily centered around drinking, often during working hours. Alcohol consumption was normalized and encouraged, including toasts during the workday and unprofessional conversations. There were also situations openly discussed, such as a leader being passed out on a carpet during an onsite week in another country, which reflected the overall lack of professionalism. There was little to no support for professional development. From my experience, when tools, guidance, or resources were missing, responsibility was placed on employees rather than on leadership for not providing what was needed. Deadlines were completely unrealistic, reinforcing a strong startup mentality that prioritized speed over sustainability. Feedback quality was very poor. The head of the team dominated conversations, talked extensively, and showed no real listening. Feedback felt one-sided and unhelpful. KPIs were absurd and disconnected from the day-to-day reality of the work. Although the company frequently described itself as a “family,” this only seemed to apply if you fully aligned with the prevailing drinking-first culture. If you didn’t, job security felt uncertain. Even though I was not a recruiter, the environment was highly competitive and commission-driven, creating aggressive dynamics rather than collaboration. This behavior was especially noticeable among younger team members, and the lack of respect was visible and implicitly encouraged.
