Paid vacation time during the first year is less than usual. You receive 10 vacation days after 1 year of service (15 days after 6 yrs, 20 days after 15 yrs) and are allowed to borrow 5 vacation days after working for 6 months. You also receive 1 floating holiday(a vacation day) per year after working for 6 months. The other aspects of the time off system are normal: 4 days accrued sick leave, 8 paid holidays.
I'm guessing they used to give the vacation days up front but after a former employee worked for a few weeks, used all their vacation days and then never came back to work, they changed to this system.
