12-14 hour shifts (depending on the pharmacy hours) back to back without a set break When we try to take a lunch break, it's often interrupted High stress Have to work holidays - even Christmas and Thanksgiving Had to work during snow storm even when they declared a state emergency and did not allow anyone on the road. I almost got into an accident 3 times while being on the slippery, white-out road. Upper management cares about metrics while emphasizing customer service, but does not give us enough staff to provide these services comfortably Angry customers Fear of being robbed Insurance issues Endless phone calls Dealing with patients who forge/alter a prescription - had to call the police a few times When a technician calls out, it's incredibly difficult to stay afloat because we are given barely enough tech hours to run a pharmacy Being asked to push flu shots at the in-window, out-window, drive-thru, and over the phone. For example, answer the phone with "Rite Aid Pharmacy, this is *employee*. Would you like to schedule a flu shot today?". Our goal was over 1000 flu shots this year. We sometimes do 20 flu shots a day (more or less) with only one pharmacist on duty. Pharmacists have too much to do with not enough support. We are expected to do Medication Therapy Management (Outcomes and Mirixa), point of care, ordering CII's, checking in CII's, monthly CII count, QA'ing prescriptions so quickly that we have our licenses on the line by overriding drug interactions because we do not have the time to call the doctors office unless it's severe, managing pharmacy technicians, resolving customer complaints, weekly conference calls and managing our metrics.
