- Staff is great, really welcoming, warm and supportive. - As a Western staff member your benefits are great. Housing and everything taken care of. - Transportation to and from the school (Western only). - A sa Western teacher my salary was good, no complaints.
Minpunten
- Very top driven. - High levels of micromanagement. - Huge lack of trust. - Lots of changes and high turnover with Western staff, due to inconsistencies. - When budget cuts are made, they start from the bottom. For instance all staff took hits to their health care, but the Principals and Admin were unaffected. - Inconsistencies with who gets what. I saw certain staff members get their children fees paid to expensive British Schools and others get nothing, but the option to send their kids to Riyadh Schools (Expats avoided sending their children there; mostly Saudi students who tend to very wild). - Really keen to keep costs love, but love western teachers. It is a business and they are going to make more money if the teacher they are advertising is named Mr. Johnson, instead of Mr. Abdullah. Recently school has also decided to hire South African teachers (instead of US, Canadian, Australian or British teachers) so they can pay them less money. - Staff get paid based on passport and experience, which causes lots of hidden tension amongst such a diverse staff. Western staff paid the post and eastern staff paid the least. One teacher could get 15,000 SAR a month and another 7,000 SAR simply based on their nationality. One Irish Teacher was getting paid 18,000 SAR (3 years go), he had no teaching qualification or actual full time experience. He was just a young guy and moved out to get some work. So that unfairness is seen by everyone and hurts team morale. - School is made out to very really high tech and innovative on their extensive social media outlets and websites. This school has a photographer full time, a media department etc, so it makes sense. Sadly, this school is not at the standard it claims to be. - Administrators will give you a hard time and create barriers, if you challenge them or perhaps may be seen as a threat to take their job. Administrators keep their jobs by keeping staff down; everyone is out to make sure they keep their own job.
