Pluspunten
Lots of training available and paid for by Ryder (reinmbursed when passed). Good working facility and some of the best overall benefits in the industry (i.e. vacation time, sick leave, medical, etc.). Techs are carefully screened before being hired--no drug addicts, trouble makers etc. It is nice to work on mostly newer vehicles (no old dump trucks, junkers).
Minpunten
No upward communication, severe micro-management, poor hiring techniques (pulling from the fuelers into the shop as techs!!!???). We are always under stress for job security due to the supposed "Safety Program." When an RAB (risk associated behavior) is received, there is NO way to even communicate with the person that handed it down. RABs are handed out 2 at a time and you are fired after 3 RABs in a rolling 3 year period. You can even get an RAB for a speeding ticket. Many techs have quit or been fired because of this program, or just plain won't hire on because of the Ryder reputation. The few remaining trained techs are overworked and underpaid. I have had only a 2% raise within 3 years and am still at the low end of the pay scale for my skill set. Ryder only hires "Yes men" for management (i.e. puppets for Swienton). The few of us who remain do so for the benefits and the work facilities.
