Pluspunten
SBP fosters relationships, incorporates big ideas, and fulfills its mission of "shrinking the time between disaster and recovery." While I was there, first as an AmeriCorps project lead then as a staff member, I was able to rise quickly and make big impact in an organization that is super malleable and gung-ho about disaster recovery. Rebuilding homes is a huge part of the process and SBP does this so, so well.
Minpunten
Very few staff have professional experience as contractors, engineers, or construction workers before SBP, which inhibits its ability to incorporate emerging construction technologies and ramp up efficiency. SBP also has very little data management capacity, analytical might, or professional development tracks in case management. It is an office of do-gooders who do good! But at the expense of having high quality folks leave the organization after a couple years or less.
