Pluspunten

While many of the reviews left by former employees sound a bit whiny, there are some truths to their statements. However, not everything was bad at SOLUTE. Being a software engineer wasn't that bad depending on the PM that you were assigned to. There have been many changes to the PM staff but I think the iteration that was there when I left was pretty solid. If you worked hard and put yourself out there, opportunities to work on great contracts would pop up. There were some snacks available. They weren't the greatest, but they were there. I was just happy with having coffee every morning. Taking management out of the equation, there were some solid people who work/ed at SOLUTE that made my time there bareable.

Minpunten

There are many cons that I think should be worked on or are being worked on: -Lack of communication: There is a lot of miscommunication and lack of communication that goes on at SOLUTE. The CEO mentioned in a comment that they won 4 contracts in 4 weeks, but that information is never sent out to the employees. We would constantly be in the dark about how things are actually going. -Admin wing: This includes BD, Contracts, IT, and Accounting. Notice that I did not add HR.. that is because it doesn't exist at the point when I left. There is nothing wrong with the people in these departments, it is more that watching the way that they were treated made me glad that I was not in their shoes. There are reasons that so many left that department in the fashion that they did -Lack of Training: There is a serious lack of training available or documentation for that matter. Invest in sending your employees to workshops or conferences. -Lack of Sick Leave: Regardless of what the CEO said in his comments, unless you are management or a senior, we are offered 2 weeks of PTO and ZERO sick leave. That isn't competitive at all. That legit is the minimum. And depending on the manager, you might not have the option to work from home. I had surgery after starting and hadn't earned enough PTO to take a day off. I had asked to work from home and was denied. I had to come in after my surgery and couldn't take medication for the pain because I wouldn't have been able to drive.

We have made quite a few structural changes in the last year. The company is directly competing against Fortune 500 level businesses. We simply had to get better across the board. We have changed how we approach our work, and are implementing accountability top to bottom. I am fully aware that the folks that had it real easy did not like the changes, negative reactions by these folks were anticipated and expected. So, the usual griping on glass door was inevitable. The company does not expect much more than a person doing a competent job for 8 hours a day. We don't expect people to work nights or weekends. We just need people that want to accomplish work. The changes implemented over the last year have had a positive impact on the quality of our work and the quality of folks working at the company. I truly hope people that do not like the changes to find something that fit them better. As a business, we really have to concentrate on the people that want to move forward with the company. Thanks, John
