Pluspunten
- snacks from Costco - good stepping stone for other employers, especially defense - will get you security clearance - not bad salary for first job - get to leave on time, but in order to succeed you need to put in extra effort
Minpunten
- minimal raises - no performance reviews - too much drama for such a small company There are many issues with SOLUTE, Inc. The raise I did receive did not even match annual inflation, so I ended up making less money (less buying power) than I did when I was first hired. Don't get me wrong, I had my performance issues, and your work experience depends on your project. Projects don't last that long compared to larger companies so job security isn't that strong. The amount of support newer developers get really depends on your team members and management to get you the help you need. I was on a project where more senior developers/government employees weren't that helpful. I was constantly lost. I could have probably learned everything if I scoured the entire codebase, but that was really demoralizing. You really have to go out of your way to understand what's going on and then you can start succeeding. When I was employed, SOLUTE management made very little effort to introduce extracurricular training or support to employees. When COVID hit, they even attempted to get employees (April 2020) to prematurely come back in because "auditors would see an empty office." Now that I've moved on, I'm applying for a mortgage loan which requires an employment verification which SOLUTE has denied to confirm. I've tried to call and email HR only to get ignored, there is no support for former employees. They wouldn't even confirm the small raise I received or my salary information. There were many cases of sexual harassment. I recall a female talking about her sexual encounters, and I only realized this was wrong when I took sexual harassment training at my new employer.
