Minpunten
Everything? This is hands down the worst job I've ever had. I only worked there for about a month and I was sick the entire time. I worked in "Production" which is just a fancy word for working in the back room dealing with the gross donations. My duties consisted of sorting through a 2000 LB cart full of clothes, books, shoes, housewares, and purses in 25 minutes. You would have to pull down a 20 LB bag and sort through it and keep going until the cart was empty. If you did it in over 25 minutes they'd make you feel like a total failure and that you're about to be fired. I'm a 20 year old 120 lb woman, it took me about 40 minutes to do each cart, which I thought was pretty damn quick, and I was sweating, coughing, wheezing and sneezing and felt like I was about to pass out by the end of it. I ended up having to wear a dust mask all day long which stank and gave me a rash. You had to do about 4 carts a day yourself. Then you'd rotate and go on to hanging the clothes. Again, if you did this any slower than lightening speed they'd start yelling at you to speed up and tell you you're slowing down the entire store. And the quotas. We'd get random, INSANE quotas each day from corporate and have to meet them lest we be chastised at the morning meeting. The donations we got were absolutely disgusting. Covered in literal cat pee, baby puke, mold, mud, dirt, old food, crotch and pit stains. A lot of the times they were mixed in with needles, used condoms, tampons, garbage, and other much worse things. And they wanted you to sort through this stuff so quickly that you'd often find yourself grabbing onto something awful because you didn't have the chance to look at it first. The place was FULL of dust and debris, I was told by another employee that the air ducts didn't work and had actually never worked which did hell on my allergies. Absolutely no encouragement or positive rienforcement from management. Everyone who worked there had carpal tunnel, bad backs, bad knees, respritory problems, or a combination. Also the first place I've ever worked that made staff clean the bathrooms? Disgusting and not on my job description. Shift was 7:30-4 Monday to Thursday and 7-3:30 on Fridays. So you had to wake up at the crack of dawn to work in this sweat shop. The only good thing was the discount which you weren't even allowed to use unless the item had been out for at least 2 days, and by that point anything worth buying was usually gone. Went to the doctor at the end of it and he told me I had bronchitis caused by my environment. Took me another month to completely get over it after I had quit. I have NO idea why anyone works here. The pay is minimum and the raises are about 10 cents a year. Benefits are awful and the work is hard hard labour. I went home every day at 4 and had to lay down for at least an hour due to all the pain in my back and wrists. And I only worked there for 1 month! And I'm only 20! They give you a tiny little cube locker for all your stuff too, which you need to use because if you leave anything anywhere it's considered a donation and good luck seeing it again. I DO NOT recommend this job to anyone at all.
