Pluspunten

Slightly above the minimum wage

Minpunten

-Incredibly dull, shop often quiet for hours on end. -Needlessly long opening hours (where towards the end little money is made) cause unnecessary stress for staff when it comes to the end of a shift and there are drunkards outside. -Despite only being paid 45p over the minimum wage for a shop assistant role you are expected to carry out all the duties of a shift manager. -There is zero progression offered. -You are expected to cover shifts at very short notice and if you can't they make it very obvious how annoyed they are. -The company has no integrity. They regularly steal art and use it on their own brand cards. -If you don't fit in, you are ostracised. -You are expected to try to sell but get no commission. -Head office are not in touch with reality outside of their London bubble. 'Area managers' are actually just from London. The targets are set the same everywhere again because they are stuck in their London bubble. -Head office staff are highly unprofessional and rude. In short, for little pay the company wants you to work like you're being paid £30 an hour.

Pluspunten

small shop but very popular, especially at Christmas fun products easy to manage customer flow, and achieve targets All staff receive a bonus if sales targets are met

Minpunten

It can be a bit hard to move around the shop if it's busy, just physically a small shop floor. The stock is kept downstairs so that it can be a fair bit of exercise on busy days
