Pluspunten

Autonomy & trust given. Extremely flexible working to accommodate work/life balance. Everyone has a voice and can input into projects and business direction. Open and honest communication across the board. A fully remote, small, closely-knit team. SharpStream continues to operate as a separated entity within the Bauer organisation which allows us to remain agile and pursue R&D opportunities. The work is interesting and engaging. Management is all technical so there is no arguments about when to spend time removing technical debt, writing unit tests etc. Achievements are recognised and celebrated. Good career advancement opportunities & training.

Minpunten

SharpStream has recently been acquired by Bauer Media Group, this is an exciting time that has increased our resources 10-fold. However, this has not come without it's teething issues while integrating into Bauer's systems (as you would expect) A massive effort has been put in over the last two years to upgrade technology, workflows, documentation and distribution on knowledge silos - this however is always an iterative process with small teams. There is a fairly compensation 24/7 support. As the company grows this becomes less frequent - I personally haven't had an OOH incident in a year, but, it is mandatory. There is the occasional need to provided OOH maintenance, however, this is planned well in advance and is compensated via a toil system. You would not be expected to do server maintenance at 12, and then begin a work day as usual at 9am.

Pluspunten

Remote working and flexible with hours. Technology specialist within an interesting field. Small team/startup vibes. Opportunities to bring ideas to the table and implement.

Minpunten

In house solutions that could be off the shelf and delivered faster. Siloed knowledge between staff that was not documented fully making it hard to support. Expectation that all staff were available 24/7 for the good of the company free of charge or paid in pizza. Overtime not paid, usually earned leave. Directionless at times. Inconsistent with expectations of staff and standards.
