Minpunten

I quickly became very depressed during my employment. The clinic’s workflow is disorganized, inefficient, and unnecessarily complex. Rooms are not consistently cleaned between patients, which raises concerns about overall standards and patient care practices. New technicians are expected to perform at a high level immediately, despite receiving little to no structured training. This lack of onboarding, combined with very high performance expectations, creates an environment where employees are set up to struggle rather than succeed. Requests for additional training or clearer expectations are not adequately addressed, and when challenges arise, responsibility is placed only on staff rather than on the lack of support or guidance. Management appears to be disconnected from daily clinic operations, the manager is not based in state and does not have direct familiarity with daily workflow. This contributes to a gap between expectations and the realities of the clinical environment and makes it difficult to communicate effectively about issues without feeling defeated. Feedback is primarily critical, with little to no recognition of what staff are doing well. Corrections are sometimes made in front of patients, which can be uncomfortable for both staff and patients and may undermine confidence. Communication can come across as dismissive or discouraging, including passive aggressive/condescending comments from the doctor as well as negative and sometimes grandiose comparisons of the doctors ability to other providers in the area that make it difficult to maintain professional respect. There are inconsistencies in expectations. Staff may be assigned diagnostic measurements while simultaneously being told they are not trusted to perform them correctly, without sufficient training to improve. Operational decisions can also be difficult to understand, such as requiring front desk staff to remain onsite alone for full shifts when the clinic is closed, solely to answer calls to inform patients the clinic is closed. No bridge toll and/or certification compensation and they didn’t disclose the need for a parking permit until another tech got a notice. Overall, the environment is high pressure but without adequate support, and the combination of unclear expectations, limited training, and critical feedback contributes to fast burnout. Rather than fostering growth, it can negatively impact confidence and personal mental health, even for otherwise capable, strong, and motivated technicians.
