Pluspunten
-People outside of management are generally pleasant. Not all of management is bad. -Varied schedules available for staff especially part-timers in college -An interesting field The people in staff positions and one or two of the managers are decent people. They know how to do their jobs, but are more executors than people who will challenge themselves, the business, or their day to day work. There is also some good times had at the company in the form of birthday celebrations, monthly lunches, and the occasional company outing to the local bar/restaurant. These people know how to relax and the environment is very, very informal. If you are offended by vulgar language, do not enjoy the occasional prank, or dislike being made fun of (usually light-hearted) then you will not fit in here.
Minpunten
-Company's collective business IQ is low: You will not work with people who understand business outside of their specific area. -Fear of change to culture is high: Ex: Division "X" can't see the benefit of change to principle "X" and hence resists because it is "not the way we do it". Ex #2. Division "X" brings in a new Director who fails immediately because their new ideas don't mesh with what has been done in the past. -Change in procedures, products, or rules are constant, terribly communicated, and rushed. -Turnover in all positions, except for a few at the top, is high -Management vents emotions or feelings in the form of swearing, cussing, tossing objects, and other various degrees of unacceptable behavior. I wish I were kidding. -Pay is low for the level of skill required -"Full-time" staff workers are sent home early regularly and struggle to get enough hours to pay bills 8 months out of the year. Mandatory OT during the holidays means working 60+ hours per week (6-7 days) for 6-8 weeks straight. -Salaried workers put in huge hours throughout the entire year. Unfortunately, most in the office are in constant fear of the next emotional outburst from someone who manages them (not just one person in management either). It is sad to see this type of behavior from individuals who are looked upon to set an example, lead, and make decisions that are in the best interest of the company. It leads to a lack of thoughtfulness in their jobs, little buy-in when new projects or products are presented, and general discomfort in day to day work life. In a span of 3 years the company went through 8+ different Directors in a specific area. There is actually a running joke within the company regarding the role. Sadly, there are many "running jokes" in the company and all of them have negative connotations. This could be a really cool company to work at, unfortunately the best it ever had to offer is in the past (massive growth). The future success of the business is, at best, dim as competition and technology in the field increases and takes market share. The facade is nice, but the interior of the company is to be avoided at all costs.
