I've worked at Socket for over 3 years and have watched a dramatic shift in culture. Supervisors no longer push back on ridiculous expectations from upper management, the most qualified employee was denied a position as a supervisor because the office manager has beef with him. That position has since been filled with a man who doesnt know the difference between a modem and a set top box, who was fired for his incompetence and replaced by another inept individual who has turned the office into a scene from Mean Girls. This supervisor spends more time walking the office either gossiping and opening badmouthing employees within earshot, threatening others and pushing out anyone she doesn't personally like, which are usually the employees who know what they're doing, tell her shes wrong and actually have a desire to assist our customers. She has encouraged her employees to verbally abuse other employees within the office, and the useless HR department is more concerned with putting up "Healthy Lifestyle" posters in the bathroom than actually addressing the problems. The business center has it's own problem, with insobordinate field technicians, people who call out every other day, one employee in the billing department that has consistently messed up across the board and blamed it on others. The business desk technicians refuse to follow instructions when interacting with another department and refuse to use the proper channels to get stuff done correctly because it takes a little more time. Most people worth their salt at this company have left within the last 2 years, and very few capable individuals have come in and stayed, leaving a massive work load to fall on the few people who care enough to do their jobs and do it correctly and the one sale engineer everyone in the business center has to work with at some point or another is extremely unpleasant to anyone and everyone on a whim. And last but not least, the pay and the benefits are DISMAL unless you've been there for 10 years. The benefits cost far too much and eat up most of your paycheck, if you have kids, good luck, because dependents are VERY expensive to have on the plans and the most expensive plan still doesnt cover enough to make it worth while. Those who can afford it, but health plans through the market place, those who cant, suffer. I busted tail for 3 years to get the position and pay I have and it is still not enough to live off of, the company culture has gone down the drain, it's no longer worth putting up with the bad pay and benefits for the cool environment. Because that environment has gone. Dont work here, it's not worth your mental health.
