- Many of the people are good people. - Tons of PTO. - Pay is fine, if not stellar. - The philanthropic goal of the company is solid if you're into that sort of thing. - The business is well defined.
Minpunten
Anything that can be done, will be done wrong. The company does 401k matching, but in private company stock. The health insurance is clear and affordable, but kinda sucky. Upper management believes in open communication, but then ignores their employees. An emphasis is put on quality, but then we set fixed deadlines - regardless of the shortcuts required to get there. And that's just the organization. The actual development groups are a catastrophe. The Dead Sea effect is in full swing - (nearly) anyone who is vaguely competent has already left. The rest are the sort who couldn't get a job anywhere else, or are lifer's that are perfectly content cashing a check with the mess they've created. Anything that is produced is done in the most fragile, haphazardly way possible. Since management is done is a similarly fragile and haphazard way, either nobody notices or a band-aid is slapped on the thing to meet the deadline. The saddest part is that people *know* that stuff is bad. The company has hired consultants who have told them all of these things, but they are either ignored or ineffectively addressed. The pervasive culture of mediocrity is too strong.
