Working at StepChange Debt Charity is soul‑destroying. The role is relentless, taking call after call with no real break, leaving staff drained. Managers refuse to speak to customers when complaints arise, leaving frontline staff to take the brunt. Unrealistic KPIs and harsh call targets push people to breaking point, with many going off on long‑term sick due to stress. Staff turnover is extremely high, and morale is constantly low.
If your face fits than great and if not then be prepared! While the charity’s purpose is admirable, the internal reality is damaging, unsustainable, and leaves employees feeling undervalued and expendable.
