At its height, Storm2 was one of the most exciting and rewarding organisations to be a part of; there were plenty of incentives and opportunities to grow within the business. The work was enjoyable, and the business really cared for its people, and the clients they partnered with.
Minpunten
Ultimately, the business is now a mere shadow of what it once was. The workplace is filled with a toxic environment of micromanagement and unrelenting pressure from senior leadership to achieve sales targets which has only further alienated its staff. There have been a multitude of questionable business and strategy decisions made by the senior leadership team within the business which have led to the closing of offices, laying off of dozens of staff, and the fostering of an “anti-trust” culture within the organisation. “Shifting the goal posts” - for still a fairly young business within the industry, the C-Suite are adamant that the business is now a ”scale-up” as they look to hunt down profitability and margin. This couldn’t be further from the truth… Business revenues are down, staff morale is at an all time low, and the size of the team in terms of resource continues to shrink. The scale-up narrative, is a merely a ruse built around delivering as much share holder value to investors as fast as unsustainably possible, and hurrying to an “exit”. The implementation of a sizeable monthly threshold, and change in commission payouts to consultants has removed the only remaining positive about being a part of this business; it’s highly rewarding nature.
