Minpunten

i genuinely don’t know how this job has such a decent rating. there are lots of cons. lots. if you don’t want to read everything listed, just hear me when i say this: do not work here. it is not a good job. my mental health seriously deteriorated while working here. it is mentally, physically, financially, and emotionally draining. let it be known that this is not nearly all i could say, but for the sake of the reader i’ll keep it to the highlights. let’s dive in. - sitting isn’t allowed in the office. no chairs, only for managers in their personal offices. - yawning isn’t allowed. if you yawn, you have to walk a lap around the entire building and miss information shared in morning meetings. - morning meetings last too long, and it’s the same lessons repeated over and over. as a new hire, you’ll have new information for about a week, and then it starts repeating. but you still have to take notes! - the “events” they send you out to consist of standing at a table for 8 hours regardless of temperature or weather, trying to get people to donate money for suicide prevention. it felt very morally icky to me because people would straight up lie about the cause to get donations, because that’s where you get your income. donations. a percentage of it goes to you, and another goes to the organization they’re partnered with. none of it felt genuine. it just feels very off. - you’re required to fill out 4 online forms every day, and 5 on monday’s. they’re useless for employees. they just make the manager’s lives easier. and you get in trouble if you don’t complete them. - business dress code is required. don’t know why, because as soon as you leave the office to go to an event you have to change into a different shirt with the suicide prevention organization logo on it. you wear business clothes for an hour and a half of standing for repetitive meetings. - events are usually at least 20 min away from the office. i went all the way to ogden, even logan. multiple times. you have to drive your own car to every event, and they don’t reimburse you for gas. not one cent. a lot of the employees i talked to told me they were barely making enough money because they spent so much on gas every week and your paycheck is dependent on how much you make in donations. - some days you just don’t get donations. sometimes people just don’t want to donate, no matter how you try all the special “tricks” they teach you (which, by the way, are the most common sense business tactics you could just find on google). at the end of the day, you go to a one on one meeting with a manager to reflect on the day. if you don’t make much, it’s your fault. there are never exceptions. one of their mantras is literally “there is no such thing as a bad event, location, etc.” sometimes there just is a bad event, or bad weather, and people don’t donate or even come near your table. but it’s still your fault, and you need to be better. - i’d never really understood the term “toxic positivity” until working here. nothing ever goes wrong, you’re never allowed to be upset. - along with every other demanding thing this job entails, there are mandatory phone calls with your leader on sunday to discuss goals and see if you met your previous week’s goals. you shouldn’t repeat goals, either, because there’s “always something new” to work on. they’re the most useless, unnecessary, invasive things. weekends should be for relaxing, not stressing about what you’re gonna tell your leader on your phone call. when i had my interview, i was seriously under the impression that it was going to be a real career starter. it felt very professional, important, and grown up. i had just moved to salt lake, and that was a very exciting thought. it’s an illusion. they try very hard to uphold this air of professionalism, but it just isn’t. a professional work environment doesn’t demand so much time, energy, money, and emotional damage from employees. if i could, i’d write a novel of every horrible experience i had working here (and believe me when i say it would be the entire 40,000 words), but personal anecdotes aren’t needed.

Good opportunities to network with coworkers/learn about the basics of sales

No base salary. Job description doesn’t note that you’ll be tabling everyday.
