Minpunten
I am writing this review to express my disappointment and frustration regarding my experience at Superside. Unfortunately, my time with the company has been marked by several significant concerns that I believe need to be addressed. I hope that my feedback can contribute to improving the work environment and overall employee experience at Superside. Lack of Team Use Case and Goal Achievement: Throughout the interview process, I went through about seven rounds without being informed that the team I was joining had no viable use case. It was disheartening to discover that there was a very weak strategy in place and that nobody on the team had ever reached their goals. The immediate realization that there was no need for my role or the entire team is deeply concerning, this was voiced but nothing was done to strengthen the team. Proper transparency and communication regarding team objectives and achievements should have been provided from the beginning. Inaccessible Hiring Process for Neurodivergent Candidates: The requirement to go through three aptitude tests in the interview process raises concerns about inclusivity (which is strangely one of the company's ethos). This approach leaves no room for candidates who are neurodivergent and may have different strengths and capabilities that cannot be solely assessed through standardized tests. Superside should strive to create a more inclusive hiring process that considers the diverse talents and perspectives of all candidates. Unjustifiable Terminations and Lack of Job Security: One disheartening aspect of Superside's employment structure is the ease with which team members are fired. It is evident that being a contractor at Superside comes with a lack of security, and we are constantly reminded of this fact proven by conversations had with the people care team. However, the termination of team members without valid reasons is demoralizing and fosters an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty (and I'm not even talking about the 10% layoff that happened recently). Superside should provide clearer justifications for terminations and work towards establishing a more stable work environment for its employees. Lack of Transparency and Top-Down Communication: The company's communication channels suffer from a significant lack of transparency. There was a major dearth of information regarding team health and success, and communication predominantly flows in a top-down manner, meaning there is a constant game of broken telephone happening. Increased transparency and two-way communication would foster a sense of trust and enable employees to feel more involved and invested in the company's success. Misleading "People Care Team" and Lack of Trust: The existence of a "People Care Team" should imply that employees have a support system to turn to in times of need. However, my experience suggests that the team functions more as a guise for the HR department rather than providing genuine care and support (considering the layoff messaging came directly from them, through a Slack message). This lack of trust creates an environment where employees feel unheard and unsupported in their professional and personal concerns. Superside should prioritize the well-being of its employees and ensure that the "People Care Team" is a reliable and trustworthy resource. Misclassification of Employment as "Fictional Self-Employment": Another concerning aspect of my experience at Superside is the misclassification of employment under the guise of being a self-employed contractor. After speaking with a tax advisor It has come to my attention that this practice may be considered illegal in many countries. By labelling employees as self-employed contractors, Superside could be evading certain legal responsibilities and benefits that should be afforded to employees. At the very least, this practice raises ethical concerns. I strongly believe that addressing these concerns will help Superside foster a healthier work environment, improve employee satisfaction, and increase overall productivity. I hope my feedback is taken seriously and that steps are taken to rectify the issues outlined above.
