Everything else. Rock bottom morale, no clear trajectory, goal posts constantly changing. The most miserable I have ever been in a role.

I’m sorry to hear that your experience while you were at System C could have been better but am really pleased to hear that like so many, you recognised the brilliant team of colleagues we have in the organisation. I understand that change can present challenges, and we are continuously working to improve communication, support, and career development for all of our staff. There are always areas where we can do better, and we actively encourage open and constructive conversations to drive positive change. Our townhalls outline our key business objectives and the Q&A questions submitted are always answered. The feedback received via our Peakon Employee Engagement Survey has led to new offices, a complete revamp of our company benefits and many other initiatives. I could write a lot on this, but the two biggest challenges within the company are: 1. Disorganized processes and slow decision making. Operations felt chaotic, more like the downside of a start-up than the upside. Decisions moved slowly, inefficiencies were everywhere and few people seemed empowered or accountable to fix them. The technology, infrastructure, and ways of working often felt outdated and unnecessarily manual. 2. A People team lacking credibility and capability. From leadership down, the People function appeared out of depth. Initiatives such as career frameworks and progression tools being introduced felt more like surface level exercises than meaningful strategies. Despite the talk of being “people focused,” the execution of any initiatives lacked clarity, consistency and genuine understanding of what employees actually need.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m pleased our remote / hybrid working suited you, but I’m sorry that other aspects of your time did not meet your expectations. We recognise that some of our processes and tools have been too manual and slow. As we integrate our group of companies into one organisation, we’re investing in clearer processes, better systems and sharper ownership so decisions move faster. You’ve also raised concerns about our People team and career development. Our career frameworks are currently in the design and build phase to create greater transparency, with a communicated deadline of the end of our financial year. Alongside this, we’ve introduced Development Planning, Squiggly Careers training and toolkits, and a mentoring programme to support colleagues with their career development.
