Some of my coworkers were very nice to work with - that’s about it.

Issue #1: There is NO training at this place. As other reviewers have said, you really do have to train yourself, which is sad. And then if you make a mistake because you weren’t actually properly trained, they get upset with guess who …you. Now, I can clearly see the solution to this issue, but obviously they cannot. I’ve brought up this issue with HR; however, I guess it all falls on deaf ears because this appears to be a longstanding issue with the company that still hasn’t been addressed. Issue #2: All certain staff care about is drama, drama, drama. There are some individuals who go around gossiping incessantly about everyone, only to turn around and act like everyone’s BFF. In turn, this creates a rift in the working environment where mistakes can be made (you know, the mistakes they’re always complaining about. Obviously due to the lack of training and the constant distracting gossip). Those are the ones who really don’t care about the company or the studies they’re working on. And yet, they choose to keep this type of employee anyhow. In fact, I truly believe that the supervisors don’t even know these people gossip about them as well. Why? Because these people turn around and act like best friends with the supervisors too, not even two minutes after badmouthing them and exposing all the embarrassing details of their lives to other coworkers. Issue #3: The communication there is downright atrocious. Even worse, no one will take responsibility for the communication issues going on and they just point the finger at someone else. Fixing communication issues is truly a lost cause there. Issue #4: During the job interview, they tell you one set of things and then when you’re actually on the job, you find the opposite to be true. Everyone loves that. Issue #5: The scheduling is horrible. Can’t tell you how many times in a week my schedule had been changed - therefore, making it impossible to have a life/make appointments, etc. Leading straight into the next issue… Issue #6: There is no work-life balance. Yeah, maybe there is when it’s very slow. But other than that, nope. They want you to work all ridiculous hours that they said you’d never have to work from the start (then they send out these weird emails how all employees MUST work these hours). And then when you say no, they get angry and act like you’re in the wrong for not wanting TKL to BE your life. Issue #7: As another reviewer said, they are cheap, cheap, cheap. And apparently this is nothing new, since this has been said years ago (meaning, it’s not going away anytime soon). They cheap out with the subjects and they cheap out with the employees. Clearly they have enough $ to allocate, where more of it actually needs to go. But, I guess corporate doesn’t feel the same (shocker there). Issue #8: Nothing is consistent in the way anything is done. The old saying “There are too many chiefs and not enough Indians” surely rings true here. For example, all of the coordinators have different ways they want to run their studies; they all have different rules for the subjects and different expectations of the other clinical staff. Therefore, it gets frustrating - why not just get together and implement actual ground rules/policies that you all enforce in the same way? Why can’t you make the way you do certain things universal? Makes no sense when you have two different inpatient studies going on simultaneously and one coordinator wants their subjects to follow one set of rules and another coordinator wants their subjects to follow a different set of rules. These are some the reasons as to why this place is a ridiculous circus (there are still somehow more). Nobody is on the same page, there are too many people in charge and no one knows the best way to go about running this ridiculous place.

Interesting work from day to day. Can be good if you want to get your feet wet in clinical research.

Management is poor, nurses here are not respected, bare minimum training provided, clinical coordinators are not all on the same page (creating confusion for staff and subjects alike), and drama runs rampant (you will receive many vague emails from higher ups regarding random drama between other colleagues, making threats in order to get everyone to behave). Another word on the drama aspect - it is clearly not properly addressed, as when I was there it never actually was resolved. Among it all, you always had this one particular person who was basically the “puppet master”, stirring the pot, spreading rumors, particularly about certain supervisors. Talk about toxic. Priorities at this place when I was there were not at all where they should have been. Also, they would often pressure us to try and push subjects to agree to participate in a study, in order to fill as many studies as possible. Some of the clinical coordinators would get angry if all of the studies weren’t filling up. The purpose of informed consent is to let the possible “subject” make their own educated decision about participating in a research study. Not to try and coerce them into it. That just isn’t right, nor is it ethical.
