Pluspunten
There is never a dull moment. And there are a range of positions you can hold which includes HR, salesfloor, logistics and guest service. You are in each position 18 months minimum, then it just depends how your results are and how well you network with other STLs and the DTLs to get your name out there. The pay is competitive, sometimes $10,000 more than what other retailers offer for the same position. You form a sort of family with your team! You are always being developed. You go to mock interviews with other STLs. You get a chance to go up paygrades 6 months to a year in position, or whenever upper mgmt starts seeing results in your area. You have quartely check ins, so there is no surprise at your annual review.
Minpunten
Engagement and recognition are minimal to none. Seems to be an opportunity every year, and it doesn't seem to get any better because all the cuts Target makes. Stores are running at the bare minimum, as a result everyone is so task driven they have forgotten to "have fun" at work. Also, with exec positions being combined, they are 1 to 2 less executives in the building to help when the workload is overwhelming. Number one con is the amount of payroll that is given to stores to complete everyday tasks. It is just not feasible for a department to have say 80 hours for payroll in a given week to maintain the level of brand Target wants, complete new sets that should take for example 60 hours , and provide exceptional guest service. Because no overtime is given, salaried execs pick up the pieces by working 60+ hrs a week.
