Micromanaging- They will view all phones calls, emails, and anything contact made with a taxpayer or tax professional to look for any justifiable reason to end your employment. It's also not just contact with taxpayers it's also messages with other employees that they monitor all the time. They routinely walk by to check and see if an employees is working. They force employees to log time on every task completed to justify paying them the 8 hours a day you work in the office like cameras aren't there to prove you're already working. "We're like a family"- This is them trying to announce that they are just like any other corporate America job. They will gaslight you into thinking you're doing a good job and that they're glad you're working with them. You have to be involved with the meetings that they have twice a week. The company meeting every Thursday you have to know the motto and say it like a cult ceremony. They will terminate your job just like you never meant anything and leave you completely dry. Overworked- When working in the admin department they send all the paperwork for the case that need to be organized and set up there. This area is understaffed already and then cries about needing to get all the work done, but then cries again about the smallest little detail might be left off of the case. For example a middle initial in a field that is already filled in another area of the client's case. You have to routinely call people to request documents and then try to explain why we need that just and it's an entire mess. They don't respect your own personal time you need in life and then beg for you to work overtime. Then complain if you worked overtime when they didn't approve of it being used at that time. Like if I get stuck talking to a client outside of my work time I'm getting paid for that. They put emphasis on follow ups on people trying to process documents when the sons of the founder sit on the phone talking to their friends all day. I was routinely assigned cases from other client advocates because they were overworked or from a lead that was busy. The cloning of cases is something else that you have to do which is an entirely painful process and it could easily triple your time working on one task. The day before they laid me and several others off they reassigned me like 6 new task at the end of the day before telling me at lunch the next day I no longer had a job. Hypocritical Management- Management here will walk around out of their office rooms talking to others and gossiping. Then turn around and say you shouldn't be talking to your co-workers and being friendly. They work from home and then complain when employees want to work from home. They only time they offered that is when it snowed and iced the roads. One manager had two weeks off in December and then had the audacity to say don't use all your PTO around the holidays since others can't use it for the holidays. Then had Christmas Eve & Christmas, New Year's, and then another week off in January. Plus worked from home. They won't pay you for PTO days not used and you have to use them all before January because they won't allow for them to build up. No loyalty to employees/High turnover- There is not a high age average for a reason. It's because when they have employees who show any sign of possibly looking for a new job or have potential to get a new job they will fire them. Also there's no room to really grow because they using family and friends to promote to higher positions. So you will be stuck working the same position for most of your life. They also won't increase your PTO until you're three years in.

I left Protection Plus because it became abundantly clear to me that leadership prioritizes themselves at the expense of their employees. In my career, I have never encountered a company with such consistently poor communication and lack of transparency. High Turnover - Over the course of my time as an employee here, the company fired over 100 people without any notice, a majority of whom had been praised multiple times for their hard work and had been with the company for years. You are not safe, even when you think you are. Instead of addressing concerns, providing feedback, or fostering growth, the company chooses to abruptly fire employees and later rehire for the same roles. This creates a culture of fear, instability, and complete distrust. Unrealistic Expectations - The company also enforces unrealistic expectations around work-life balance. Mandatory meetings twice a week set the tone that overtime and the use of personal hours are expected as a minimum effort from employees. And while they expect this flexibility from their employees, they could not care less about your personal life when you ask for flexibility in return. No Career Growth/Nepotism - Leadership roles are limited and do not appear to be filled based on employee development or internal growth, leaving hardworking employees with no growth. You will almost always be passed up by a less qualified, but somehow related individual. Firing decisions seem to be made based off of personal-liking, rather than your proven skill set. While leadership emphasizes “integrity” as a mission statement, their actions often reflect a lack of consistency and fairness, particularly in how certain employees are favored. No Real HR Department - The "HR Department" is a joke. I experienced racist comments and unfair treatment from various persons in director roles, but there is no system to report these things when management is the problem and HR does not care. There are no normal guidelines for workplace behavior, and HR will always take the side of the "managers/family," giving you nowhere to go when you experience unfair treatment. On the employee side, everyone is afraid to speak up for themselves because those that have spoken up are quickly fired. Leadership is really good at sweeping problems under the rug rather than addressing them and becoming better for it. Micromanagement - In my personal experience, I experienced a lack of respect for my creative vision because the company is stuck in their old ways and is afraid of change. I was constantly being micromanaged by an unqualified manager who's only feedback was from ChatGPT. It was implied multiple times that my work could not be trusted when requesting minimal work-from-home days, while my manager and other coworkers (all part of the family) were granted that privilege on a full-time basis. Overall, Protection Plus fosters a toxic work environment defined by poor leadership, lack of communication, and disregard for employee well-being. I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking stability, growth, or respect in the workplace.
