You get hired for the job posted. Don't expect to be promoted any time soon. The only way to achieve this is to job hunt for something better. Management is renown for hiring directors, vps and snr vps from the outside. One may be so lucky to be promoted to "team lead", having all the responsibility of managing staff and up-managing execs without the pay. Do not be fooled with the company's open policy of transferring positions internally after a year's employment. It's a lateral transfer - don't expect a change in pay grade. Unfair practices of low-balling and undermining senior employees with ridiculously low salary increases while a new hire with less experience can earn 50% more than those individuals. Outdated processes in tracking time and expenses. For a company who touts itself as being a leader in the forefront of technology, they sure could benefit from this if applied to their own operations.
