Firstly I want to say we do understand that it can be frustrating when shifts finish much earlier than expected, many of us worked as temporary workers for LOLA before working for the office. Sometimes if the shift is not very busy clients may send staff home, just like with many hospitality jobs. Unfortunately this is not something we have control over. Whenever possible as you have said above we do charge for the minimum booking time (4hrs) to the client and pay the staff. But the reality is that if we were to charge for the whole shift we may lose a client, meaning less jobs for our staff.
By paying monthly staff have time to contact us before payday about any discrepancies regarding their hours, and the accounts team can look into it ensuring they are paid correctly.Some of our clients also have payment terms they must follow, in some cases we could be paid 2 to 3 months after the event, so we will pay staff before we're paid.
