Over the last two years, Terakeet’s focus has shifted to profits over people, and it's caused a huge drop in morale. Worse, it’s resulted in layoffs that likely could’ve been avoided had Terakeet gotten rid of leadership’s deadweight team members and truly invested in the business as it was rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. There was one department-wide layoff in 2023 and two significant layoffs in 2024, one in June and another in October, and those layoffs impacted 17% of the workforce each time. Dozens of people were let go regardless of performance, tenure, or industry experience. We were sent a vague email and forced to wait hours to learn more about what was happening. Even then, the company simply called it a “restructuring” instead of what it was: a layoff. The entire process could’ve been handled differently and with far more empathy than the Directors and C-Suite execs showed anyone. Terakeet is plagued by incompetent leadership. Many of the people in charge of have no business overseeing the company. Their incompetence shines through in every meeting. If you look at the managers and leaders they fired, you’ll see that they got rid of people who were hard workers, who cared about their team, and who committed the crime of holding the company accountable for its actions—something we’re encouraged to do during onboarding. Raises, if you get one, are a joke. They don’t keep up with inflation and your responsibilities year after year will increase beyond reason. To be promoted, you’re expected to do managerial tasks, often for years, just to get noticed. And yes, you’ll be doing those tasks without seeing an increase in pay. Even if you do them and do them well, you still won’t get promoted if leadership doesn’t like you. Everything at Terakeet is a popularity contest. If you do manage to get promoted, you’ll be thrown to the wolves. There’s no training, no support, and no guidance from anyone in leadership. The burden of training is placed on your team and your peers regardless of department. They also have a habit of walking back promotions. Many of my coworkers were promoted to a role and promised a raise. Shortly after, Terakeet walked back the promotions and ended up not awarding raises to those who were promised them simply because leadership “made a mistake.” Terakeet clearly no longer cares about its people. If you’re considering applying for one of their open roles, think twice. And if you accept an offer, have a backup plan. You won’t find job security here.
