DON'T DO IT! I know, it sounds great. That's literally the platform Textio offers; to use language to sound appealing, inclusive etc. Sadly, you'll find out within a few months that these words are not followed with action. This is not uncommon for any org, so a few other things to know:
- Zero clue on how to bring something to market. Early success led to big egos that feel like whatever they make is pure gold, despite little signal from the market wanting what is being shipped. Almost no go-to-market planning on top of that. Most newer features have flopped pretty hard.
- The thoughtful, inclusive culture that they tout really comes off as more of a culture of attacking/shaming any comment, behavior, or belief that could potentially offend anybody. Due to this, everyone walks around on eggshells and rarely says what they really mean.
- Blatant favoritism; some suffer severe micro-management while others are free to do whatever they would like without question.
- Significant flaws in the product itself; lots of smoke and mirrors are used in the data to prove value to customers.
- Very little career opportunity. Hardly any promotions happened in my time there despite many being deserving, as there is no real structure or care for how one can advance their careers as they want to. The expectation is blind loyalty to a company that does not have your back.
