"Family" Culture That Doesn't Always Feel Like Family: The company often refers to itself as a "family" because it's a small business, but in practice, this can feel more like a forced camaraderie. If you're not interested in socializing after hours, drinking, or engaging in extra-curricular activities, it can be isolating. There is a sense of exclusion that can sometimes lead to behind-the-back conversations. Overwork and Underpayment: There is a real issue with work-life balance. Employees are often expected to go above and beyond without proper compensation. It's not uncommon to be overworked, and when it comes time to discuss salary increases, the process feels like a struggle. Pay is not competitive, and you might feel like you're being asked to work harder than you're being compensated for. Lack of Transparency and Unwillingness to Accept Feedback: Leadership often claims to be transparent, but the information shared tends to be generic, and it feels like they withhold the full picture. While they ask for honest feedback, it’s clear that they don’t always want to hear it or act on it. Constructive criticism can be met with defensiveness rather than a willingness to improve.
