Pluspunten
Tradebot hires some of the smartest, most hardworking, friendliest people I've had the pleasure to work with. It's also very collaborative environment with new problems to solve every day. Hard to get bored. When I was there, managers were good. The company has a lot of integrity and strictly adheres to market regulations as far as I could tell. Base compensation is quite good relative to the cost of living in KC. Bonus potential is high. It's a great place for high performing recent graduates to excel. The 45–50 hour workweeks are reasonable compared to most of the industry. 20 vacation days is nice. Catered lunch is also a plus. If you're not already familiar with the markets and how to smartly trade your own stocks, you will pick that up quickly. It's a useful life skill. The CEO and many of the employees are very knowledgeable in this regard.
Minpunten
Employees are afraid of being fired. Consider this job more like a long-term internship with the potential to get hired full-time as a manager. There is large amount of turnover, especially when profit is low. I would not recommend counting on this job to be a stable career. Because the teams are so collaborative, individual performance is hard to measure. The only metric that matters is the CEO's perception of your performance, which may or may not be the same as your team / manager. The CEO must also like you personally. He sees the company as a large circle of friends that make him money. There's a decent amount of ingratiating required to be successful that leads to some odd cultural dynamics. The CEO also has strong political beliefs. Be very careful to whom you disclose your politics if you are left of center, your sexual orientation if you are not straight, and use of nicotine products if that's your thing. It's something that should be obvious going in, but the only goal at the end of the day is to make money. Make the number go up, that's it. For some this is fun and rewarding, for others it lacks any kind of meaning and purpose. This kind of culture is not for everyone, though if you ingratiate yourself with the CEO and management, and find winning trades, you can do well here. Always be prepared to move onto something else.
