Pluspunten
Nice office with perks such as a golf simulator, free soft drinks, and donuts/bagels every Friday. The amount of corporate holidays and early dismissals on Fridays were also a plus. As there is high turnover, there is constant room for growth to learn new skills to put on your resume.
Minpunten
Pay was lower compared to other accounting roles (roughly 5k to 10k), and I was aware that certain teams made more than others at the same level of experience (eg. shared vs corporate). This was primarily the reason I left, as I felt my experience and amount of work I was doing did not match my salary. Management was constantly trying to cut costs and implement changes which were never clearly explained or seemed to be rushed which led to more work sometimes. I feel this could’ve been avoided if these automation projects were planned further in advanced and given more realistic timelines to accommodate teams that would need to hire more staff. Upper management never bothered to connect with the staff accountants which also was frustrating since they never knew what was going on at the bottom level before implementing changes. Some of these changes led to stressful months for me as my workload constantly fluctuated during my time there and I believe was a driving factor in the high turnover there. There was a clique in the office, but it wasn’t overly noticeable as there were a lot of supportive and friendly people that evened it out.
