Pluspunten

Working at UNDP can be incredibly meaningful, especially if you care about development, governance, climate, or poverty reduction. But it’s still the UN system — which means inspiring work mixed with slow processes and institutional layers. 1. Strong sense of purpose You’re not just doing a job — you’re contributing to development, humanitarian resilience, governance reform, climate action, etc. For many people, that mission alignment is a huge motivator. 2. International exposure Work with colleagues from all over the world Cross-cultural teams are the norm Possibility (not guarantee) of mobility across countries and regions Great for people who like global environments and diverse perspectives. 3. Good work–life balance (role dependent) In many offices, especially HQ and policy roles: Reasonable working hours Generous leave Strong emphasis on staff wellbeing (on paper and often in practice) Field or crisis posts can be much more intense.

Minpunten

Bureaucracy is real This is probably the #1 complaint. Slow decision-making Layers of approval Heavy admin and reporting requirements
