Pluspunten

Program Analysts are passionate about their work and the impact it has. As a program analyst you do enjoy the benefits of traveling to the various African countries in your grant portfolio. Staff members present themselves as professionals and are generally polite and courteous towards one another.

Minpunten

The organization is very top heavy. Prior to 2013, Program Analysts were hired on a term schedule, and were usually freshly returned from the Peace Corp. This has recently changed though. The highest level you can reach is a GS-11 as a Program Analyst. From there, Directors are all at the GS-15 level. Outside of Program staff, there are very few in between the GS-11 to GS-15 level. Business processes are severely outdated. Paper is the preferred method of exchanging and submitting documents that are usually done so electronically these days. Because of the lack of automation and integration into key financial systems (which are outsourced), staff members find themselves angry and disgruntled at each other. It's usually a battle of Program vs Operations/Finance. The President of the Foundation has made it clear that there are plans for a reorganization, but has not made it clear what direction she wishes to take the Foundation. In 2013, 10% of the staff left for new positions outside the Foundation.
