Minpunten
Management is horrible. Out of the 10 months I've been there, either an employee leaves or one gets fired every week. It's like an episode straight of Survivor. Everyone has to watch their backs on who is going to be voted off next. My department already had THREE managers replaced since the store opened in Oct 2011. Scheduling is absolutely horrible. I've done retail for 7+ years and every company gives out schedules at least 1-2 weeks in advance. They won't let you know until ONE day in advance. Yet they expect employees to put in time request off 2 weeks in advance. Some workers put their time request 1-2 months in advance only to get denied. Store policies. They have a STRICT dress code. No tats or piercings showing. No funky hair or nail color. Everyone has to wear ALL black. Yup, that's right. You're not allowed to have any other color showing. If your socks or shoes aren't black, you'll be sent home. I wore a dress one time that had a tinge of white on the collar, I was forced to buy a cardigan to cover it. However, one of the Asst manager was wearing brown boots and showing off her wrist tattoos the wk before...Quite ironic if you ask me. Oh, if you're late...forget about even coming in. If you're scheduled at 2pm, you have to clock in at 2pm on the dot or you will be considered LATE. According to them, there is no such thing as a grace period. If you use the grace periods too much, they will give you a write up for that. If you're scheduled at 9:30am to open the store, you better be clocked in by 9:28am for the morning meeting or else you will be LATE. Call outs. You're only allowed 2 call outs within a 3 month period. Anything more than that will result in a write up or lead to termination. Raises and promotions. They are based on your evaluations every 3 months. Don't even bother, because this is all through favoritism for the most part. I've seen people who have got raises for doing nothing, but suck up to their superiors. Yet people who have been with the company longer and worked hard, got nothing. If you're shy and introverted, this will be a problem for you. They like people who stand out. Good luck with even becoming full time with benefits. I've been a part timer working at least 40 hrs a week and was denied benefits because my evaluation points wasn't high enough to be granted full time. What a joke. This company takes everything too seriously. if this is a side job while you're in school, they would want you to make Uniqlo their first priority over anything else. They brainwash you to their standards. You're basically a Uni-clone, not a person. Be warned!
