No work/life balance. Extended hours including days, nights, weekends and holidays. Poor understanding of their field-level employee

The company is big enough to run as a legitimate business (e.g., paycheques are cut every other Friday without issue, it has a HR and HSE department) but isn't so big that it runs as bureaucracy full of dumb rules and policies created by clueless higher ups.

It isn't big enough to present a lot of growth opportunities. That isn't to say there aren't any, but in many if not most cases, whatever job you hire into is the one you will have for some time. This isn't a bad thing because the jobs they have are typically good. However, if you are looking to do a hundred different things at one place, you won't have that opportunity here.
