Career growth into management roles can be a bit challenging, as progression at the upper levels is fairly limited. The commission structure, while workable, isn’t the strongest in the industry and could be more competitive. Additionally, email deliverability was sometimes an issue, which made outreach and day-to-day workflow more difficult than it needed to be.

I joined Verrus in 2018 after returning from the UAE, where I worked as Sales and Business Development Director for a commercial flooring company specialising in office towers, earning around £200k annually. When I first came back to the UK, I aimed to find a similar role, but without local experience at director level, and being overqualified for sales executive positions, it proved challenging. Jonathan Hodgkins from Verrus found my CV on a job board and introduced me to the opportunity of becoming a recruitment consultant. Initially, I accepted with the mindset that it would be a temporary role until I secured something matching my previous income. What surprised me was that, within the structure and market position Verrus offers, I was able to leverage my international sales background and high-level communication skills to generate the same income I had earned overseas but now in the UK, close to family and friends. The uncapped earning potential at Verrus, combined with a strong market presence in specialised sectors, creates an environment where high performers are truly rewarded.
