Pluspunten

Interns feel like an important part of the team right from the start. From 1-on-1 meetings with every member of the staff to being able to contribute to important projects. Interns here are encouraged to participate in meetings, ask questions and pursue tasks that align with your interests. At the same time, your experience with VisionPoint is what you make of it. Mentors, learning experiences and challenges are at your fingertips but you have to take initiative. I learned so much this summer not only about marketing but also about the importance of good company culture and team work. This team is the best group of people I could have hoped to learn from and any future interns who get this opportunity should feel very lucky.

Minpunten

A 100 dollar stipend per 40 hours worked is less than some other internships might pay but VisionPoint makes up for their compensation with the amazing program they have designed for their interns.

Pluspunten

I worked with some incredible colleagues across departments, whom I was very lucky to work with and learn from. Flexible work arrangements made it easier to balance personal and professional responsibilities. Compensation was fair for me personally. Clients were typically kind, and the work was always interesting and fun to be a part of.

Minpunten

Micromanagement was common, with a lack of clarity on what the standard process was, as everyone did things a little bit differently. VisionPoint also focused on being feedback-oriented, but typically, feedback conversations were more negative, only focusing on what one was doing wrong rather than providing developmental support. Management regularly asks for escalations on other employees as well, which just creates an anxious environment where most are afraid of making a mistake and feeling like they can't trust others. While some employees were given flexibility and trust, others were held to different standards, which created an uneven and discouraging environment. It became clear very early on in my time at VP that favoritism was given. I had a handful of experiences where management and leadership talked poorly about other employees. I was very disappointed in this. VP recently laid off many across the company.
