Expatriate opportunities exist for those in lower management and below. The complexity and visibility of the products makes the work very interesting.

Volvo top management has a very narrow world view focused on Sweden. Ideas inconsistent with this world view are actively discouraged even when consistent with regional market requirements. As a result, many strategic opportunities are missed and employees with broader world views and creative approaches find the environment frustrating. Volvo has actively developed a bureaucracy which makes rapid action and decision making difficult.
