Got to work from home with Covid

Minpunten

Value stream chaos with no direction…. Managers of managers who couldn’t tell you what direction we were headed. Managers who knew nothing about teammates and the role they did therefore not able to create goals for over a year if not longer! I worked while on medical leave TWICE because no one knew how to do my job which is a big no no. CEO and corporate employees are a joke and are all about what’s in it for me! During Covid we were told not to travel, yet the CEO was on vacation while doing a webex meeting. I remember the meeting the day the person died shortly just before it started. If Brent had any kind of respect he should’ve postponed the meeting. He jumped on the opportunity to take away senior recognition away which is unacceptable. Actually lots of things changed and moral has gone down because of it. The plant is treated like dirt and yet they are the hardest working out of everyone! At one point, I was told to do a job that was clearly a conflict of interest all because the person that was supposed to do it didn’t want to. They have lost so many good people and the ones that are left will be leaving in the next year or 2 so the experience will be slim pickings. It’s sad because you used to have to be related to or know someone to get in and now they have tainted the reputation so badly that people avoid working there like the plague. But corporate world does that, Walker was too good of a name for Wabash anyway. Walker had integrity.

Good pay, blank slate to design for

Minpunten

Abysmal hiring and vetting, terrible team composition choices. Those hiring for the tech roles are letting in basically anyone. Everyone is doing the bare minimum. Textbook example of how hilarious Agile development can be. A days worth of LLM-assisted development is nickel-and-dimed to take an entire sprint. Worst frontend visual accuracy I've seen to date in my career. Multiple project managers for a small ecommerce website. At one point there was three. (?) Entire offshore team on top of the domestic team that truly does not know what they are doing. This amalgamates to what you would expect: crawling at a snails pace, with too many cooks in the kitchen, and no sense of connectivity to the team. Middle-middle management gets in the way so much that agitation is unavoidable. You will have to spar with them and, in my case, be told that you are not a cultural fit because you didn't say Yes Ma'am. I apparently needed to entertain their silly frontend asks that are against best practices and confusing for users with zero pushback to keep my job. This job should not be relied on as a primary source of income when contract (or in general, maybe). They came up with an excuse to end my contract with zero days notice. Leadership gets promotions for being in meetings all day and leaving you hung out to dry, without having the capability or awareness of knowing what actually needs done to solve the problems the product development faces.
