Pluspunten

When I was working there, there were three tech teams about to be four. I think some of the teams were well organized and had supportive leadership. The tech stack is very new and local development is fast -- no Docker needed.

Minpunten

The team I was on was fast paced. They expected me to pick up some of the tech stack and the complicated nature of the metals supply chain industry in the first two months. Feedback was it given directly and I felt like co-workers were talking about me behind my back. I made a joke about selling a pair of shoes left behind by the last company who rented the office space and five people reported me directly to the CTO and didn't seem to care that I could have lost my job because they tattled on me. Very middle school vibes. Another female co-worker also left around tbe same time I did because there's some weird clique-y vibes coming from leadership. Product development is top-down so you don't really get input as an engineer even though it's a small startup. There's no HR and they don't bother to outsource so it is just overall sketchy! I would prioritize your mental health and work somewhere where your manager actively supports you and wants to see you grow as a person and employee, not just see you as a ticket machine. They didn't even put my manager through training when he was promoted from a software engineering position.

Pluspunten

- The people. Every single person here is smart, friendly, talented, interesting, driven, and a pleasure to work with. There's a heavy emphasis on culture, and it works well. - Supportive, collaborative culture. Everyone is willing to answer questions or bounce ideas off each other even if it's about something not directly related to what you're doing. Great esprit de corps across the company. - Leadership has a proven track record of success, everyone is very accessible and transparent - Lots of growth opportunities and interesting problems to solve - Flexible work hours/remote work - Ambitious + exciting roadmap with great prospects for long-term growth - There is a genuine investment in D&I. The company is small, but there are people from many different backgrounds, cultures, etc (everywhere from entry level positions to the leadership team), and lots of thoughtfulness around inclusion

Minpunten

- We are growing fast, there's always a large laundry list of work that needs to be done next (although I feel the need to add that work life balance is pretty good for a startup— many employees have children/families, take vacations, and I've always felt like I could take time off whenever needed) - Because the product is so new in the market, lots of uncertainty and iterating on things as we learn in real time - It's a complicated industry with lots of intricacies that take time to pick up
