Talking to individuals. One of the most important things in meteorology is spreading a clear and consistent message. Being able to talk to specific clients, elaborating on your forecast and giving explanations/reasoning is one of the things I enjoyed about working at WxWorks. There are a lot of young, beginner meteorologists there so we did get along very well since we began around the same time out of college. Lastly, you do get some very good experience in a number of different fields. Whether you want to be involved in forensics, sales, data, media etc, there is a lot that you can be doing.

Pay wasn't the best and during winter, 50+ hour work weeks with no overtime compensation, and/or FTO given without a choice in when you take it wasn't fun. However, if you like winter forecasting and grinding out difficult forecasts, you'll enjoy it. 3 other things, they can be fixed but the last time I was there, they weren't and also not necessarily a deal breaker depending on your social schedule. But, being a backup on the weekend and not knowing if you will be working or not on a Saturday/Sunday until the Thursday or Friday before is not ideal. The schedule does waiver around quite a bit, especially in active weather. Hours may be switched a couple hours later, or earlier (or both) and you can be working 12 hour shifts sometimes, with limited lead time for it. Last one is micromanagement. To be short, management made employees fill out an excel file explaining what they are doing to fill in time for work instead of trusting that they were working (though people are greedy and this was warranted for a couple of individuals - but not all)
Pluspunten
good management, emphasis on education
Minpunten
shift work can be difficult in the winter

Great experience working as an operational meteorologist for clients, entry-level. Co-workers are mostly friendly. You always have something to do or weather to monitor.

Poor Training: Most training is done via PowerPoint you have to read on your own time. Management does not properly train new hires to do their job effectively. If management does not like your performance the first time, they just hire new people straight from college to replace you. Management is horrible in terms of remote working. Due to the recent pandemic, most people had the opportunity to work remotely while any new hires have to work in office. Management love to play favorites and does not bother helping those who ask for help. They rather push that task down than doing it themselves. PAY INEQUALITY!! Huge consideration when applying! They will pay those with a higher salary WITH NO EXPERIENCE than those with experience. Owner WILL THREATEN TO NOT PAY YOU OF YOU VISIT STATE THAT HAVE A HIGHER RISK OF COVID!! The owner only cares about money and not the well-being of their staff! If you do decide to work here, work for only a year, and move on to higher prospects. For those who are working for a Master's degree, salary increase very little so look for other higher-paying salaries for Master's degrees. Expect to work mostly evenings and overnights for entry-level. Rarely work in the morning or afternoon. Side note: Diversity is very LACKING at this company! Only white, non-Latino people work here.
