This company has changed dramatically since I first started working here 7 years ago. I can understand many of the past negative reviews from developers because I have seen firsthand a lot of the issues they bring up and have myself have had to deal with the frustration of working with poorly written legacy code and the stress of having to work crazy overtime due to extreme deadlines and poorly planned projects. However, from what I have observed myself over the past 3-4 years, the company has continued to move in the right direction to such an extent that it feels like a totally different company compared to 3-4 years ago. To the extent that I have had to work any overtime since then, it has been extremely minimal. The codebase has also radically improved. We went from mostly dealing with ugly legacy code to now having rewritten the majority of it using best practices and modernizing the stack. Also, "free soda"

Since you will be working on a mature product, the opportunities to write new code or build something from scratch are pretty rare. Most of your time will likely be spent on bug fixes, refactoring, adding smaller new features, etc. This may be an impediment to your growth as a developer. Also, despite having improved and modernized much of the codebase, there will still be some legacy code you will have to deal with and more importantly, our biggest application (PolicyAdministration) is not in the greatest shape and can be difficult to work with. Steps are being taken to transition to a newer and much better version, but it may still be some time before the company is finally off the current implementation. Another downside of working here is the seasonal nature of it. Around fall each year, it can get pretty hectic and that can result in some overtime.
