1) INCREDIBLY LOW compensation; we're talking below the lower band of the average. 2) Lackluster-to-nonexistent infrastructure and tech support; game development process and pipeline is held together with duct tape and hope. 3) No clear strategy; upper management's only stated goal for the company is to "make a billion dollar game," and no one in a decision-making position has a passion for or understanding of video games. Decisions are made based only on analytics and spreadsheets in support of efforts to replicate existing successful games on a much cheaper budget and with a much smaller team. 4) Bad leadership; across all disciplines there is a noticeable lack of direction and leadership, with most individuals in a leadership role passing the buck to someone else in lieu of making a decision themselves. The executive level remains detached at the "30,000 ft view," and middle management is full of individuals who have stuck around long enough to achieve seniority but no leadership ability.
