Thank you for taking the time to reflect on your experience at Zego and for sharing your thoughts with us.
As you said we have a flex first approach as a company and to support this, we have an allowance of £1,000 per person. Making an investment of this nature at this stage of development of Zego was no small matter and we’d like to think it shows our people-centric approach. To clarify, being flex first at Zego means you will be asked to come spend time at our offices on work that is highly collaborative in nature or to attend company events to build and deepen relationships across teams such as our recent Zego Connect offsite. Remote first is exactly that, where there are no expectations ever of having to be in person.
In reference to your other points, we will try and address them below.
Regarding changes in strategy and as a result, our product roadmap - as a scale-up business that has its sights set on disrupting an industry, there are inevitably moments where work and areas of focus for teams and team members needs to shift. One of our key points of difference as an insurtech is that by using technology, we can move and adapt quickly when it makes sense to do so. This means that adaptability is an inherent part of who we are. That being said, I’m sorry there were times where your scope of work was not clear.
We are constantly checking in with the market to ensure our salaries are competitive and that our total reward offering is compelling. While we have serious ambitions for ourselves as an organisation to be as impactful on insurance as Google or Facebook is in their respective fields, we strongly believe the experience you can have at Zego is career defining.
On the point of work life balance, we have been piloting several initiatives to help our team members manage the many priorities on their time such as implementing Zego focus time mid-week where no meetings or slack messages happen during a set block of time company wide.
Lastly, and as with all scale-up businesses, we would like to say that we are continually working hard as a company to improve and evolve in all areas possible. We appreciate that feedback is a key part of this process and so once again, we wish to thank you for your thoughts, and for all of your efforts while at Zego.
