Instead the interviewer made clear that this is a field based job and made sure you’re willing to work long field hours. Questions were encouraged.

Pretty much describing the job and asking if you're comfortable with the work conditions. Very few typical interview style questions. It seems as if you're hired before your interview based on your qualifications.
I thought it went well! Went over the job and expectations thoroughly. Explained what you would be doing and some of the different areas you might be working in or traveling to.
