      Sollicitatie

Ik heb via een uitzendbureau gesolliciteerd. Ik heb gesolliciteerd bij Computershare (Londen, Engeland)

      Sollicitatiegesprek

I was approached for a position for the company by a recruitment agent, after the usual conversation I was told that they would forward my CV and hopefully get a time for a telephone interview which is part of their screening process which is standard practice, they then called me in for an interview that was going to be with the hiring manager and someone else. Date and time set. All prepped for the interview. Got to the interview with the standard 10-5 minutes early and was asked to wait which was fine, Interviewer came in at the scheduled time and it was to be with another member of team from a different department. They asked me to describe my background and so I did, ensuring to touch on all related aspects of the Job description that was provided with my past experience to make it more 'relevant' background information. I noticed that they hadn't made any notes to that point, which isn't out of the norm but having previously been in the hiring process myself, I would make it a practice to ask someone about something they mentioned so I can get a deeper in-depth understanding on how they relate past experience with something that could happen within the role they applied for. After my 1-2 minute background info, they seemed disinterested, the questions they asked were not even related to the job, now, someone reading this may think - "well maybe you weren't as interesting or maybe you didn't provide a good enough background description as you thought you did" - and I would agree, but as I have been in the hiring process myself, I would usually make an effort to get information out of a candidate as most if not all candidates are usually 'nervous', which I was. After looking at my CV during the Interview (I wondered at this point if they had even bothered to look at my CV before the Interview at all to be honest) they asked me some general Team Leader questions about conflict resolution, so I gave them my pre-rehearsed example and to my (at this point) non-surprise, they didn't make any notes on the example I had provided. At this point I felt like genuinely walking out of the Interview but purely out of respect to the Recruitment agent I stayed, after about 30 minutes of them looking at each other and looking at me and struggling to even ask me questions they asked me to do a role play type of exercise, about how you describe a certain step by step function to an individual who did not use that device before and they left me alone to do the write up for about 5-7 minutes. When they came back they didn't even look at it, they took the paper I had written on and put it at the back of the interviewers note book, they didn't put my name on it, they didn't even bother to keep it with my CV they had printed out so all I was wondering at that point was 'what on earth is this'. At this point I was internally annoyed, employers seem to forget that a candidate goes through a lot of stress to prep and practice for an interview, spend funds going to these interviews that they don't have the luxury to spend so even if you are not going to give someone a job, at least put in an effort to seem interested, is that too much to ask from hiring members of staff in today's day and age. At the end of this excuse of an Interview, they asked me if I had any questions, so I asked them questions based on the level of training and development that would be provided, and support to train staff members that I would be managing. They thanked me for my time and walked with me to the door, at this point all I could think of was I know I didn't get the job but what I had done to even warrant such disinterest.
