I applied for the position and was almost immediately invited to a screening interview. The screening interview went well and the recruiter was pleasant and professional. She informed me the typical hiring timeline for this role would be about 5-6 weeks. I was moved forward to an interview with the hiring manager. I took one of the first available times which was a week later. On the day of the interview, they told me they had to reschedule and offered me a Friday at 5:30 pm or the following Monday. I took the time offered on Monday, and then they rescheduled me one more time, bumping me to a different time than what I had selected. I prepared all weekend, and on Monday morning an hour before the interview, they canceled it, telling me they had offered another candidate the role and they had accepted. At no point in the process did they try to expedite the 5-6 week timeline.
