Overall a very structured and pleasant process. One thing that really stood out from other interviews I had attended, was the incredible devotion towards the mission of the Interaction Design Foundation, which seemed to be to create as much value for their members as possible. This was a pleasant surprise for me, having been to other interviews where it was clear that the primary goal was to make money.

I applied through the career page on their website. They were fast to respond and the tone was quite pleasant. I was treated like a real human being, and not just like another faceless candidate. In order to qualify for an interview, I had to complete a written test. Fortunately, I passed the test and later I was interviewed by the founder. We talked about their code base and the culture of the organization. It was obvious how important it was for him to find a developer who was motivated by the right reasons, and who had a genuine passion for writing the best possible code. We discussed the big difference in applying for "this job" versus just "a job". I didn't get the job, but ended up learning a lot about owner's mindset, so that's definitely something that I will be bringing up at my next interview.
